We are seeking web developers who would love to help build enhancements, new features, and entirely new products for HOTorNOT.com and our applications on various social networking platforms (Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Orkut, etc.). Projects currently include overall-site polishing, social networking, session shaping, performance optimization, ad serving based on lifestyle/brand affinity, recommendations, internationalization & mobile access (WAP, SMS, MMS).

HOT or NOT is a profitable Internet company with a globally popular web site and several top ranked Facebook applications that serve millions of monthly visitors and hundreds of millions of monthly page views.

Our loft-style office is located in Jackson Square, a short walk from BART and the Ferry Building.

Qualifications:

• Self motivation and independent problem solving ability
• Excellent logic and communications skills
• Compatibility with a workplace built around small, highly motivated teams
• CS or EECS equivalent degree from a top College or University (3rd and 4th year undergrads from top Bay-area schools encouraged to apply)
• Experience developing and deploying high availability, high performance web applications
• Proficiency in: PHP, AJAX, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Linux and Apache
• Experience with Java, Perl, C, C++

You are a hands-on Linux system architect capable of taking over a large web site and several top ranked Facebook application located in several bay area data centers, serving millions of monthly unique visitors and hundreds of millions of monthly page views.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and growing a large network of LAMP servers
• Evolution and triage related to unpredictable growth
• Design and maintenance of development, staging, code repository and automated-build / continuous-integration systems
• Interaction with application engineers
• Consolidation and scaling of data centers
• Back-up and disaster recovery for sensitive consumer information and transactional data
• Definition, measurement and management of data center service levels
• Guiding hardware, bandwidth, cage-space and electrical power purchasing
• Becoming an integral part of a small, highly motivated team that takes great pride in building high performance, customer friendly web products

Qualifications:

• CS or EECS equivalent degree from a top College or University.
• Experience supporting development of high availability, high volume web apps
• Proficiency in: Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL, AJAX, Flash, high volume image serving, video serving, real-time network monitoring and alerts (Nagios), etc.
